Nollywood actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay Nwoks, has died.
His death was announced on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, by actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who shared the development in an emotional social media video after visiting the hospital where the actor was confirmed dead.
Nkechi, who appeared visibly distraught in the video, mourned her colleague but did not disclose the circumstances surrounding his death.
Cjay’s death came on the same day a movie in which he featured was scheduled for release.
The actor was among the cast of Egusi Ogbono, a movie produced by Nkechi and scheduled for release at 5pm on Wednesday. Following his death, the actress suspended the release of the film.

“Cjay, this was never the plan,” Nkechi wrote in a message accompanying the video.
The development brought the planned movie release to a halt as colleagues and members of the production team mourned the actor.
Cjay hailed from Awka, Anambra State, and was based in Lagos. He began his professional acting career in 2021 and featured in several Nollywood productions.
His credits include Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day To My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left. He also featured in the 2021 film Doctor Lanre.
News of his death has since generated reactions from colleagues and fans, with tributes shared across social media.
As of Wednesday, details surrounding the cause of Cjay’s death and his funeral arrangements had not been made public. A new release date for Egusi Ogbono had also not been announced.
