Prominent Nollywood personalities have rallied support for veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following an emotional appeal by his daughters for urgent medical assistance as he battles stage-four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, in a post on his X page on Monday, called on members of the public to help the actor’s family find medical specialists and facilities capable of reviewing his medical records and providing possible treatment options.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote.
He clarified that the family was not seeking financial assistance but urgently needed access to medical expertise.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” he said.
Adebayo appealed for recommendations for reputable hospitals, oncology specialists and advanced treatment centres in Nigeria or abroad that could review Hassan’s medical records and advise on available treatment options.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist please help reach out to his family immediately,” he added.
He also urged Nigerians to share the appeal widely until it reached medical professionals or organisations capable of assisting the veteran actor.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday, sharing a video of Hassan’s daughters on her Instagram page and urging people with possible avenues for medical assistance to contact the family.

The growing support followed separate emotional appeals by Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, on Instagram on Monday.
The daughters disclosed that their 66-year-old father was battling stage-four cancer and appealed to Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with expertise in cancer treatment to help identify a facility or specialist willing to take over his care.
Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and claimed that some hospitals had declined to continue treating him.
Kira also disclosed that the actor could no longer receive chemotherapy at his current hospital, prompting the family to seek alternative medical options.
Both daughters emphasised that the family was not asking for money but for medical assistance that could provide their father with another opportunity to receive appropriate treatment.
Their appeals have since generated concern and support from colleagues and members of the public, with prominent entertainers using their platforms to amplify the family’s call for help.
Hassan is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has featured in more than 300 films and remains one of the most recognisable figures in Yoruba-language cinema.
As the appeal continues to gain attention, colleagues and supporters are calling for medical professionals, oncology centres and institutions with the capacity to review his case to come forward and assist the family in exploring available treatment options.
