The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi State has intercepted a truck transporting vandalised railway materials and arrested five suspects linked to the illegal operation.
The command said the arrest followed actionable intelligence received by its operatives, leading to the interception of the vehicle along the Miri–Jos Road in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
In a statement released on it’s Facebook page on Friday, NSCDC spokesperson Saminu Yusuf said officers on routine patrol stopped a long vehicle truck with registration number MDB 360 XA on January 12, 2026, around Gital town.
A search of the truck revealed large quantities of vandalised railway tracks hidden beneath bags of chicken feed and slippers, a tactic believed to have been used to evade security checks.
The vehicle was reportedly heading toward the eastern part of the country.
“Based on credible intelligence, our personnel intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks concealed with bags of chicken feed and slippers,” Yusuf said.
He disclosed that five suspects were taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the alleged mastermind of the operation, identified as Mr. John, as well as the truck driver, Auwal, who both remain at large.
Those arrested include Adam Kolo, 42, from Borno State; Samuel Musa, 44, from Yobe State; Solomon Jankaro, 40, from Niger State; Emmanuel Collins, 26, from Enugu State; and Sunday David, 20, also from Enugu State.
Recovered exhibits include 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks, bags of chicken feed, five pairs of slippers, the long vehicle truck used for transportation, and a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.
In a related operation, the NSCDC also arrested one Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada area of Bauchi metropolis on January 14 for alleged involvement in motorcycle theft.
According to the command, preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi confessed to purchasing stolen motorcycles from accomplices within Bauchi State and selling eight of them to a buyer in Gindiri, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The motorcycles were reportedly sold for an estimated ₦2.02 million.

The NSCDC said investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider syndicates involved in both cases and recover remaining stolen items.
Commending the operatives, the Bauchi State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson, praised their vigilance and reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure.
He warned vandals and criminal elements to desist or face the full weight of the law, while urging residents, particularly those living near public infrastructure, to report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
