Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo plans to extend free healthcare services to at least 10,000 residents in Lagos suburbs as part of activities lined up to commemorate his 89th birthday on March 5, 2026.
The medical outreach, organised by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, is scheduled to hold from February 27 to March 4, 2026, across Ikorodu and Alimosho local government areas.
The programme is designed to provide comprehensive medical services at no cost to beneficiaries.
Details of the initiative were disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday, February 22, 2026, by Kehinde Akinyemi, Special Assistant on Media to the former president.
According to the statement, the outreach forms part of the foundation’s ongoing humanitarian interventions focused on improving access to healthcare for underserved communities.

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olalekan Makinde, said the Lagos Medical Mission will deliver broad-based healthcare support, including medical screenings, consultations, and referrals where necessary.
He noted that the intervention is structured to address preventable health conditions through early detection and basic treatment.
Makinde stated that the mission underscores the foundation’s commitment to strengthening community health systems and reducing barriers to medical access, particularly among vulnerable populations.
The week-long outreach precedes Obasanjo’s 89th birthday and reflects a continuation of philanthropic initiatives associated with his post-presidential public service engagements.
Organizers have indicated that similar health missions may be replicated in other parts of the country.
