Ogun Govt, SFH Partner to Boost Health Communication in PHCs

The Ogun State Government has completed the review and approval of the Integrated Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, Elderly Health and Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) messaging flipchart to strengthen healthcare communication and service delivery across primary health centers (PHCs) in the state.

This effort was carried out in partnership with the Society for Family Health (SFH) under the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC 2.0) project. The collaboration was described as a major step forward in improving health communication statewide.

At the review session held on Thursday, the 9th of October, 2025, SFH’s DISC 2.0 Program Officer, Olusola Oyewole, explained that the flipchart is intended to promote standardized, consistent, and factual health messages across all facilities.

Dr. Thomas Solarin, Director of Disease Control and Immunization, who led the technical session, highlighted the value of a detailed review process to refine message clarity, visual content, and cultural relevance.

He noted that the revised guide would make health education easier to deliver while improving the knowledge and presentation skills of frontline health workers.

A key focus of the workshop was the customization of the RMNCAEH+N Flipchart for use across Ogun State’s health facilities.

The flipchart integrates several social and behavior change (SBC) tools into a single reference document, offering health workers a unified guide for communicating accurate and reliable information to clients.

Participants took part in interactive group exercises to collectively assess, adapt, and adopt the flipchart content to better reflect the priorities of Ogun State’s health system.
