The Ogun State Ministry of Environment has shut down two commercial facilities and a livestock operation in Abeokuta over what it described as blatant breaches of environmental regulations.
The affected outlets include Crystal Palace Hotel located in Adigbe, Maa’bey Bakery, a confectionery and baking outlet in Laderin, and a livestock farm situated in Soyoye.
Speaking on Thursday, the 12th of February, 2026, the Acting Chairman of the Ministry’s Taskforce, Tolu Poviwhede, explained that the premises were sealed during a compliance operation after the operators repeatedly ignored directives and failed to meet minimum environmental requirements, despite prior warnings.
Poviwhede disclosed that findings from the inspection revealed multiple violations such as unsanitary conditions, excessive noise levels, poor waste management, and disregard for established environmental safety guidelines.

“The era of doing business at the expense of the environment is over, we will continue to take decisive action where infractions are found,’’ he added.
Residents of Adigbe and Laderin welcomed the action, praising the government’s intervention as a much-needed response to environmental and public health issues affecting their neighbourhoods.
The taskforce chairman further advised entrepreneurs and facility operators to comply fully with environmental laws, stressing that strict adherence remains the most effective way to prevent sanctions and business interruptions.
