President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, dismissed former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, saying he is not on the same leadership level as President Bola Tinubu.
Onanuga made the comments in a post on X, where he criticized Obi’s leadership style, accusing him of lacking originality and independent thinking in public life.

He argued that Nigeria needs leaders with deeper analytical capacity and stronger decision-making ability, insisting that Obi does not fit that description.
The presidential aide maintained that Obi and President Tinubu “are not in the same category,” adding that the former presidential candidate falls short in leadership strength and national political weight.
Peter Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party before joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress in 2026, remains a key opposition figure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
