Only Tinubu Has Power to End Kanu’s Trial – Ejimakor

Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel to the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holds the authority to end his client’s ongoing trial.

In a post shared on his official X handle on Monday, the 20th of October, Ejimakor asserted that the president could bring the legal process to a close if he genuinely wanted the matter resolved.

“As it stands, it lies with President Tinubu to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu because once the President halts the prosecution, the trial ends,” Ejimakor wrote.

“In other words, the buck stops at the President’s table.”

He further stressed that while the ultimate decision lies with the president, the judiciary also has a duty to uphold justice.

“Nonetheless, the courts can step in to stem the tide of injustice,” he added.

Ejimakor’s remarks came amid peaceful demonstrations held on Monday by pro-Biafra supporters across several parts of the Southeast and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, demanding Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), where he has remained since June 2021.
