Osogbo Killing: Adeleke Orders Probe, Assures Residents Of Justice

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the suspected cult-related killing in Osogbo, directing security agencies to swiftly investigate the incident, arrest those responsible and prevent further violence.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the killing and the ensuing unrest as a threat to public peace, urging law enforcement agencies to act decisively to restore order.

Adeleke warned against any resurgence of cult violence, saying those behind the attack must be identified, prosecuted and made to face the full weight of the law.

He also dismissed allegations linking his administration to the incident, insisting neither the state government nor its officials had any involvement.

The governor urged residents to ignore false narratives capable of fuelling tension and to cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.

The statement added that the Accord Party is still mourning members allegedly killed in recent political violence, stressing that every violent crime, regardless of its motive, must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice.

Adeleke appealed for calm and assured residents of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting property and sustaining peace across Osun State.
