Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has vowed to seek international attention if the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election is allegedly compromised.
The singer made the statement during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, saying he would involve United States President Donald Trump if the electoral process faces serious irregularities.
Davido insisted that the election must be transparent and credible, adding that he would use his influence to raise concerns over any action capable of undermining voters’ confidence in the outcome.

The warning comes as his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, seeks a second term in office. Davido was a prominent supporter of Adeleke during the 2022 governorship election, which saw the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate defeat then-incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The 2022 election later became the subject of legal challenges by Oyetola and the APC before the Supreme Court affirmed Adeleke’s victory in May 2023.
With memories of the closely contested 2022 poll still shaping political discussions in the state, stakeholders have continued to stress the need for a peaceful, transparent and credible process ahead of the 2026 election.
Davido’s latest comments have added to growing public attention around the Osun race, as political parties intensify campaigns and preparations for the governorship contest.
