The Osun State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
During its plenary session on Tuesday, all 25 lawmakers present — 24 from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC) — threw their weight behind Adeleke’s leadership, praising his achievements and dedication to the development of Osun State.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, confirmed the unanimous endorsement, which also coincided with celebrations marking the governor’s 65th birthday.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, commended Adeleke’s performance, stating that the governor had made visible impacts through his five-point development agenda.
“Lawmakers, as representatives of the people, take pride in the governor’s leadership, and we urge him to continue striving for even greater accomplishments,” Egbedun said.

Supporting the motion, Hon. Simeone Popoola of Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency described Adeleke as a “plain-minded, loving and genuine” leader whose personality had helped drive effective governance in the state.
The motion for the vote of confidence was initiated by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi (Obokun Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola (Ede South Constituency). It was passed with a resounding chorus of “Ayes” in the chamber, according to the official statement.
Governor Adeleke, who assumed office in November 2022, is expected to seek re-election when his current term ends in 2026. This endorsement by the Assembly marks a significant boost to his political capital heading into the second half of his tenure.
