Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has extended warm congratulations to Obinna Oriaku on his appointment as the Federal Character Commission’s representative for Abia State, describing the role as a call to serve the nation with fairness and integrity.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his media adviser, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti thanked President Bola Tinubu for considering Oriaku for the position, stressing that the FCC plays a crucial role in safeguarding the constitutional principle of equity in the allocation of public offices and socio-economic opportunities across Nigeria’s federating units.
“Those appointed to this commission must be supported to make meaningful contributions towards deepening our democracy, fostering peace, unity, and promoting national development,” Otti noted.
The Governor also seized the occasion to salute other South East appointees — Peter Eze (Enugu), Jerry Alagbaoso (Imo), Nnoli Nkechi Gloria (Anambra), and Barr. Nwokpor Vincent Nduka (Ebonyi) — urging them to justify the trust placed in them by delivering results that serve the people’s interest.

While pledging his willingness to support the appointees whenever necessary, Otti’s message carried an intriguing political undertone, given Oriaku’s status as a prominent APC chieftain and former Abia Finance Commissioner, who has been one of Otti’s most vocal critics since he assumed office.
Observers say the Governor’s open show of goodwill may signal a readiness to bridge political divides for the sake of Abia’s representation at the federal level. Whether this appointment will mark the beginning of a thaw in the frosty relations between the two men remains to be seen.
