Otti Pledges Improved Business Climate In Abia

Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a more enabling environment for businesses in Abia State, saying ongoing development projects are aimed at strengthening the state’s economic growth.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from Aba Sports Club 1926 led by its Millennium President and 68th President, Nkene Enukeme, at the Government House.

Otti stated that transforming Aba remains a major priority of his administration, noting that several initiatives are underway to reposition the city as a major business hub.

He cited the ongoing construction of the Radisson Blu – Enyimba Hotel as a key project that would boost hospitality and business activities in the city.

According to him, the establishment of a five-star hotel in Aba would raise the standard of services and attract more visitors and investors to the state.

Otti explained that the project would not only improve the hospitality sector but also encourage businesses to operate at higher standards in order to remain competitive.

The governor also congratulated Enukeme on his emergence as president of the club and commended him for sustaining the legacy established by his late father.

Earlier, Enukeme said the delegation visited the governor to express appreciation and strengthen collaboration with the state government, particularly in view of the infrastructural improvements recorded at the club with government support.

He praised Otti’s leadership since assuming office, describing the administration’s focus on fiscal discipline and infrastructure development as a positive shift in the governance of Abia State.

Enukeme added that the newly flagged-off Radisson Blu–Enyimba Hotel project aligns with the government’s rebuilding agenda for Aba.

He noted that the club is ready to complement government efforts by developing facilities such as a golf course and other sporting amenities to support tourism and hospitality in the city.

The club president also appealed to the government for assistance in addressing some of its needs, including the renovation of its event hall, the provision of a fully equipped ambulance and clinic, and the installation of a functional fire hydrant system.

Among officials present during the visit were the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu; and the Director-General of the Greater Aba Development Authority, Uche Ukeje.
