EPL Midweek Wrap: Arsenal Go Seven Points Clear As Chelsea Thrash Villa

Premier League leaders Arsenal strengthened their title charge after a narrow 1–0 away victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the midweek round of fixtures.

The Gunners moved seven points clear at the top of the table after rivals Manchester City dropped points in a 2–2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.

Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal for Arsenal in the ninth minute, sealing a crucial win that boosted their chances of lifting the Premier League title this season.

At St James’ Park, Manchester United suffered a 2–1 defeat to Newcastle United, marking the first loss for new United boss Michael Carrick since taking charge.

Newcastle were reduced to 10 men just before halftime after Jacob Ramsey received a second yellow card in the first-half stoppage time.

Despite the setback, Anthony Gordon put the Magpies ahead in the 45+6th minute.

However, Casemiro quickly responded for United, equalising in the 45+9th minute to ensure the sides went into the break level at 1–1.

The hosts eventually secured the win late in the game as William Osula struck in the 90th minute to seal all three points for Newcastle.
