Otuoke Varsity Gets Royal Boost — Idoma Monarch Installed as Chancellor

The Paramount Ruler of Idoma Worldwide, Dr. Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji (Agaba-Idu), has been installed as the Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The installation ceremony, held on Thursday at the university’s main campus, formed part of activities marking the institution’s second combined convocation, which also featured a convocation lecture.

In his inaugural address, Agaba-Idu expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to serve with transparency and dedication.

“I shall serve with openness, goodwill, and a genuine desire to make this institution a home of excellence and pride. The Federal University of Otuoke carries a responsibility to raise men and women who can build, innovate, and heal this great nation,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, said the installation was expected to inject renewed energy into the university’s governance system and strengthen its mandate of teaching, research, and community service.

Delivering the convocation lecture titled “From Degree-Awarding to Problem-Solving Institutions: Retooling University Education for Nation-Building,” Niger Delta Development Commission Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, urged Nigerian universities to prioritise problem-solving by reshaping curricula, promoting research, and fostering stronger community partnerships.

Ogbuku advised the graduating students to embrace continuous learning, uphold good character, and commit themselves to serving their communities and the nation.
