More than 300 armed bandits launched a coordinated attack on a police camp in Makuku Village, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Thursday, carting away weapons and destroying property.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, revealing that the assailants burned a police patrol vehicle and stole eight AK-47 rifles during the assault.
The attackers, believed to be cattle rustlers moving with a large herd of stolen livestock from Niger State en route to Zamfara, stormed the camp around 1:00 p.m., engaging officers in a fierce gun battle.
Despite a strong resistance from the police, the bandits reportedly overpowered the officers.
