PDP Chairmanship Row: Sule Lamido Threatens Legal Steps Over Denied Form

Alhaji Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State, has threatened to pursue legal action against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he was reportedly blocked from purchasing the nomination form to contest for the party’s National Chairman position.

Lamido reportedly visited the PDP national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday, October 27, 2025, with the intention of securing the form, but said party officials denied him access.

He described the incident as “undemocratic and unacceptable,” emphasizing that he would defend his rights through the courts if necessary.

The former governor reiterated his readiness to participate in the PDP National Convention, slated for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, insisting that all aspirants should be granted equal opportunity to contest.

He further criticised reports of a “governors’ consensus arrangement,” claiming that certain party leaders were attempting to manipulate the leadership contest.

Lamido warned that such tactics compromise the internal democratic processes of the party and undermine fairness for all candidates.

The PDP has not yet released an official response to Lamido’s allegation or his threat of legal action.

Political observers suggest the dispute could heighten tensions within the party ahead of the convention and influence the outcome of the chairmanship race.
