The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from any political agreements involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that such deals were strictly personal and not reflective of the party’s official position.
This declaration comes in the wake of escalating internal disputes threatening the cohesion of the opposition party.
Speaking to journalists, the PDP’s National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, clarified that the party was neither aware of nor party to any arrangements Wike may have made.
“There is no agreement between the party and Wike,” Woyengikuro said. “Whatever understandings he had were with his personal associates, not with the PDP. The individuals he referred to are not the party. We had no input or knowledge of any such deals.”
Woyengikuro emphasized the importance of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) stepping in to resolve the tensions rocking the PDP, describing the situation as political, not personal.

“This is not about physical confrontations or verbal showdowns. The NEC, which is our highest decision-making body outside of the convention, must meet and take decisive action,” he stated.
Reacting to recent public criticisms by Wike, the PDP chieftain urged Nigerians to rely on verified party communications rather than individual narratives.
“Wike’s public statements should not be taken as the party’s position. For any authentic information about the PDP, Nigerians should refer to the appropriate party organs,” Woyengikuro added.
The statement underscores growing discontent within the PDP ranks, as party stakeholders seek to manage internal divisions and preserve unity ahead of critical political engagements.
