The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, May 13, predicted the imminent collapse of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ganduje dismissed claims by former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, that the APC would soon disintegrate.
In a statement by his media aide, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje described Lamido’s comments as “baseless and illogical”, insisting the PDP was “dead” and had no future.
“In fact, we will soon receive Sule Lamido because soon, he won’t have a place to go. The PDP is dead,” Ganduje said, adding that under President Bola Tinubu, the APC continues to attract defectors across the country and is on course for a decisive 2027 victory.
Echoing the sentiment, Wike accused PDP leaders of dishonesty and blamed the party’s 2023 defeat on internal manipulation and selfishness. He warned the PDP was repeating the same mistakes ahead of 2027.
“If PDP does not take care, and I say it again, watch out what will happen,” Wike said during a media chat in Abuja. “Selfish interest can kill an organisation.”
He criticised the PDP’s zoning arrangements and described the decision to ignore the party’s rotational tradition as a costly error.

He also questioned why he was being blamed for supporting Tinubu, while the BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, was not criticised for backing a Labour Party governor.
“I know that there will be an implosion. It is a matter of time,” Wike said, referencing recent defections to the APC.
Reacting, Senator Wabara insisted the PDP remained strong and united. Speaking at the inauguration of new BoT members in Abuja, he expressed confidence in the party’s revival ahead of 2027.
“The PDP has risen and the PDP will triumph in 2027,” Wabara declared. “The PDP shall rise again, and I am confident in our collective resolve to achieve this.”
