PHOTOS: Troops Foil Boko Haram/ISWAP Attacks, Intercept Terrorist Logistics Suppliers In North East

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) under Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major operational successes, foiling planned terrorist attacks, dismantling logistics networks, and arresting multiple suspects across Borno State between March 28 and 30, 2026.

In a key breakthrough, troops stationed in Damboa successfully thwarted a planned attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters after detecting suspicious movements through surveillance.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer, HQs Joint Task Force, Lt. Sani Uba, on Monday night.

According to the statement, the insurgents were engaged and forced to retreat in disarray, with follow-up operations confirming their withdrawal.

It was gathered that similar defensive actions were carried out in Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas, where troops repelled attacks targeting farmers and local communities, pushing the attackers toward the Mandara Mountains.

During the operations, troops neutralised an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis.

The device, intended to target both military personnel and civilians, was accompanied by materials such as rail tracks used to funnel vehicles into a potential ambush zone, highlighting continued efforts by terrorist elements to disrupt movement along critical routes.

Security forces also dealt a significant blow to terrorist supply chains. In Molai, two suspected collaborators were arrested within a restricted defensive area.

In a separate operation along the Maiduguri–Mafa road, troops intercepted vehicles transporting large quantities of suspected logistics supplies concealed in sacks.

The items, equivalent to two truckloads, include medical drugs, motorcycle parts, mosquito nets, mats, air filter components, and detergents.

Preliminary investigations suggest the goods were destined for Kusuri, a border community near Chad, without proper authorisation.

Further arrests were made in coordinated operations involving troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

At Muna Garage, a 26-year-old suspect, identified as Mohammed Adamu, was apprehended with 25 litres of engine oil, cash totalling ₦624,900, and other personal items.

Investigators believe he had been supplying motorcycle parts and other materials to terrorist groups over a prolonged period.

In Gubio, joint operations led to the arrest of 15 suspected logistics suppliers and collaborators, some of whom reportedly confessed to long-term involvement in aiding insurgents.

Meanwhile, at a checkpoint in Kilo Papa, troops arrested a suspected terrorist operative, Abubakar Ali, also known as “Saina,” who was allegedly on a reconnaissance mission to Maiduguri.

He has been handed over to the authorities for further interrogation. In a separate incident, a suspected kidnapper was apprehended in the Azir area of Damboa.

Additional clearance and cordon-and-search operations in Wulgo Junction and Gamboru Motor Park resulted in the recovery of 450 wraps of suspected marijuana and other illicit substances. Suspected drug peddlers reportedly fled upon sighting the troops.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations to deny terrorist groups freedom of movement and restore stability in the North-East.

The latest developments underscore intensified efforts by security forces to degrade insurgent capabilities and secure communities in the region.
