PHOTOS: Troops Kill Terrorists, Recover Arms In Plateau

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have recorded a major operational success against terrorist elements in Plateau State, killing scores of insurgents, recovering weapons, and disrupting logistics supplies during coordinated operations.

The military stated that the operation, carried out in collaboration with local vigilante groups, targeted criminal hideouts in Daba and Seri villages across Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.

The action forms part of the ongoing offensive under Operation WUTAN DAJI, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring stability in the region.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, Capt. Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, troops established strategic blocking positions early on April 9 between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest—areas identified as key transit corridors for armed groups.

It was gathered that security forces intercepted a large convoy of terrorists moving on motorcycles.

A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, with troops leveraging superior coordination and firepower to overpower the attackers.

At least 10 terrorists were neutralised during the engagement, while others fled into nearby forested areas, abandoning casualties and equipment.

In a related development, troops responded swiftly to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu road axis.

Upon contact with advancing forces, the perpetrators retreated into surrounding hinterlands, prompting a pursuit operation.

Security forces subsequently conducted extensive cordon-and-search maneuvers across Suma Suga and Takwok villages, including nearby mountainous terrain.

The operation led to the recovery of several items believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Recovered materials include three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), suspected to be intended for logistical support.

Troops also retrieved a National Identity Card and a photograph linked to the suspects, which officials say will aid ongoing investigations.

The military described the operation as a significant step toward weakening the operational capacity of armed groups in the area

Troops have since been placed on high alert and are continuing efforts to track down fleeing suspects and their collaborators.

Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying clearance operations and maintaining a strong presence across identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property in Plateau State.
