Phyna Slams Dangote Group Over Sister’s Death, Cites Negligence and Insensitivity

Big Brother Naija star, Phyna, has openly called out the Dangote Group, accusing the company of negligence and insensitivity over the circumstances surrounding her sister, Ruth Otabor’s death and burial.

In multiple Instagram posts, Phyna alleged that Ruth’s passing was not just unfortunate but “calculated and planned.”

She claimed the company, despite its public commitment, failed to cover all medical and burial expenses. According to her, only bills at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos were handled, leaving the family to sort out further costs.

“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.

Phyna also said efforts to contact the company during the burial on September 13 were ignored.

“Also on Sept 13th, the day of burial, Dangote groups did not pick up all calls made to them from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” she wrote.

She further revealed that a letter from Dangote Group was delivered to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment for burial expenses. Phyna described the act as impersonation, insisting the family should have been contacted directly for such documentation.

“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is really paining me. @dangotegroup you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she wrote.

The reality star argued that the move appeared to be a calculated attempt to manipulate the story after the burial, questioning why a corporation of that size would choose such a path rather than show transparency and respect to her grieving family.
