Troops of the 35 Artillery Brigade have intercepted 296 large wraps of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa along the Abeokuta–Igboora Road in Ogun State.
This was contained in a statement by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Samuel Akari, and shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out in the early hours of March 1, 2026, following a strategic tip-off on the planned movement of suspected illicit drugs.
It was gathered that the troops reportedly mobilised to the area at about 4:30 a.m., where they intercepted a motorcycle without a registration number conveying three large sacks.
Upon inspection, the sacks were found to contain 296 large wraps of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, commonly known as Indian hemp.
The suspect, however, abandoned the unregistered motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush.

The 35 Artillery Brigade reiterated its commitment to making Ogun State unsafe for drug traffickers and other criminal elements.
The brigade warned those involved in illicit activities to desist and embrace lawful means of livelihood or risk being apprehended by security agencies.
The Nigerian Army also reassured residents of Ogun State of its resolve to protect lives and property, maintain a strong operational presence across the state, and prevent criminal elements from operating with impunity.
