The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old woman, identified as Adama Hassan from Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, for allegedly attempting to smuggle a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle out of the country.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrest followed a swift, intelligence-led operation conducted by the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), which intercepted the suspect along Airport Road in Nassarawa Local Government Area on October 6, 2025.
The police said the Toyota Hilux, bearing registration number GWA 998 AR, had been reported stolen on September 29, 2025, from Ikeja Road in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was attempting to transport the vehicle to the Niger Republic when she was apprehended.
“The suspect confessed to receiving the vehicle from a male accomplice from Lafiyan Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, who is currently at large,” the statement read in part.

Kiyawa disclosed that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice and recover other stolen vehicles possibly linked to the same network. He commended the professionalism of the officers involved in the operation and acknowledged the role of residents whose timely information aided the successful recovery.
“The Command appreciates the good people of Kano State for their cooperation and urges them to continue to report any suspicious movement or criminal activity to the nearest police station,” Kiyawa stated.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that the police will remain resolute in their pursuit of criminals across the state.
