Police Launch Probe Into Alleged Ozoro ‘Rape Festival’ After Viral Videos

The Delta State Police Command has launched an urgent investigation after disturbing viral videos sparked allegations of a so-called “rape festival” in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, triggering outrage and fear across the state.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said on Friday, March 20, 2026, that the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, ordered a full-scale probe, describing the situation as “alarming, disgusting and embarrassing.”

“The command condemns this in totality. No custom or tradition is superior to the rights of citizens,” he stated, assuring that those responsible would be arrested and brought to justice.

The development follows the circulation of multiple videos online alleging that women and girls were sexually assaulted during a local festival in the Ozoro community.

The footage, which has sparked widespread outrage, is now part of materials being reviewed by investigators.

While the full circumstances surrounding the incidents remain under investigation, the videos have intensified concerns over the safety of women in the area, with reports warning residents particularly young women to remain indoors.

Attention has also turned to the presence of Delta State University, amid fears that students and visitors who may be unaware of the situation could be at risk.

The police called on members of the public with credible information to come forward to aid the investigation, while urging calm and caution against the spread of unverified claims.

As authorities move to establish the facts, the incident has ignited widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over the protection of women and the enforcement of the law, with growing calls for swift action to ensure accountability and prevent any recurrence.
