Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Osun State have arrested two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service over the fatal shooting of a driver in Osogbo.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the Dada Estate area of the state capital.
Police identified the arrested officers as Kolawole Suuti and Danjuma Samuel. Authorities said the suspects were apprehended shortly after the shooting was reported.
According to the state police command, the officers were pursuing vehicles suspected to be carrying smuggled foreign-used cars when gunfire was allegedly discharged during the operation.
In the process, the driver of an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla, one of the vehicles said to be involved in the chase was hit by bullets.

The victim was taken to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital where a doctor confirmed him dead.
Police said the identity of the deceased had not yet been established, while the body has been deposited in a morgue.
Items recovered from the scene included a Beretta pistol with breech number 125024, 11 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one spent 9mm shell, a white Toyota Corolla with Lagos registration number AAA 400 GQ, and another ash-coloured Toyota Corolla bearing registration number GFQ 0982.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Gotan, has directed a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The police command assured residents that anyone found responsible would be held accountable and urged the public to remain calm while assisting investigators with credible information.
