The Kaduna State Police Command has invited former governor Nasir el-Rufai for questioning over allegations linked to political violence that recently rocked the state.
According to a police letter dated September 4, el-Rufai and six members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are under investigation for alleged criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance of public peace, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.
Those invited alongside the former governor include Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed, Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini.
The letter, addressed to the Kaduna ADC chairman, directed him to present the members at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for interrogation on September 8.
The development follows last weekend’s disruption of an ADC transition committee inauguration in Kaduna.

The event turned violent when suspected thugs, armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones, stormed the venue, leaving several people injured and vehicles vandalised.
Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan said the gathering was held without prior notification to security agencies despite earlier warnings. In response, police officers sealed off the ADC secretariat in Kaduna.
However, the ADC has accused security operatives of bias and attempting to criminalise opposition activities in the state.
The invitation to El-Rufai and party members marks a fresh escalation in Kaduna’s tense political atmosphere, with the former governor now directly linked to unfolding investigations.
