President Tinubu Condoles With Chimamanda Adichie Over Son’s Passing

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to renowned author Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and their family following the death of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

In a statement issued on January 8, 2026, the President acknowledged the profound pain of losing a child, drawing from his personal experience as a parent.

“No grief is as devastating as losing a child. I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them,” he said.

President Tinubu also praised Ms Adichie for her contributions to literature, describing her as a global literary icon whose works have inspired and brought joy to millions.

He prayed that she and her family find comfort and strength during this difficult period.
