Presidential Delegation Signals New Era of Cooperation in Rivers State

National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu has conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s deep satisfaction with the administrative direction of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Leading a high-powered federal team to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, the 22nd of December, 2025, Ribadu was accompanied by David Umahi (Minister of Works), Balarabe Lawal (Minister of Environment), and top-tier executives from the NNPC Limited. During the visit, the NSA lauded the current stability in the region, labeling Rivers State as one of the most peaceful in the federation.

The primary objective of the mission was to solidify the progress made toward reconciliation and industrial revival in Ogoni land. Ribadu indicated that the federal government views this region as the catalyst for a broader national recovery.

Ribadu further noted that the President issued a specific mandate to recognize the Governor’s role in facilitating delicate negotiations regarding the return of oil production to the Ogoni axis. He also extended gratitude to the local population for their continued “support, patience, and understanding.”

The NSA highlighted several key milestones in the state-federal partnership:The provision of a dedicated campus for the University of Environment, and the establishment and hosting of the South-South Zonal Office of the NSA.

Minister of Works David Umahi provided a technical perspective on the visit, framing the socio-political efforts in the Niger Delta as essential to the President’s vision for the country. “strategic to the renewed unity of Nigeria.”

Umahi emphasized that the President maintains a “personal interest in the welfare of the Niger Delta people.” He detailed several massive infrastructure projects currently underway to integrate the region: East–West Road Commitment to complete all sections to high standards.

The delegation concluded by affirming that the synergy between Governor Fubara’s administration and the federal government is critical for unlocking the economic potential of the South-South region.
