Prince Harry will return to the United Kingdom next month to attend a landmark charity event, coinciding with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, will take part in the WellChild Awards on September 8 in London, celebrating two decades of the charity’s work supporting children with serious illnesses. Harry, who has served as the organisation’s patron since 2007, described the event as a privilege.
“I am always honoured to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit,” he said in a statement released by the charity.
While the occasion highlights his long-standing commitment to the cause, Harry’s brief return is once again fueling speculation about a possible reconciliation with the royal family. Relations remain strained, with the duke acknowledging earlier this year that his father, King Charles III, has not spoken to him amid health struggles and ongoing legal battles.

Tensions with his elder brother, Prince William, also remain unresolved. The pair were last seen together at the queen’s funeral in 2022 but have since kept their distance.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has settled in California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children. His visits to Britain have been largely tied to court hearings and charity events.
He has previously said that losing a legal challenge over state-funded security makes him hesitant to bring his family back to the UK, though he continues to express hope for eventual reconciliation with his father.
