A fresh fire outbreak has struck Kano State, ravaging the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in Dakata Quarters, Nasarawa Local Government Area.
The fire outbreak occurred less than a week after a major inferno swept through the well-known Singer Market, where goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.
According to reports, the latest incident broke out in the early hours of Friday.
The fire consumed numerous shops, most of them operated by small-scale entrepreneurs involved in oil production as well as plastic and nylon recycling, leaving traders counting heavy losses.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to journalists, stating that firefighters were still battling to contain the blaze.

“As I’m speaking with you, our personnel are at the scene trying to put out the fire, which is still raging. We are yet to ascertain the cause of the inferno and the extent of the damage,” he said.
Recall that in February 2026, two separate fire outbreaks were recorded at Singer Market, resulting in significant losses estimated at billions of naira.
During a sympathy visit to the market, Governor Abba Yusuf donated N100 million to affected traders.
Similarly, the Federal Government and the Progressive Governors Forum donated N8 billion to support victims and cushion the impact of the losses.
