Protesters Defy Rain To Protest At Oyo Government House Over Abductions

Despite heavy rainfall on Monday, members of the Take-It-Back Movement staged a protest at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan, demanding swift government intervention over rising insecurity and the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The protesters, who initially gathered at Mokola Roundabout, later marched through parts of the city before arriving at the Government House.

Undeterred by the downpour, the demonstrators sang solidarity songs and displayed placards as they insisted their action was a civic responsibility aimed at drawing attention to the suffering of affected families.

Some of the placards carried inscriptions such as: “Security for all, not for a few,” “End kidnapping in Oyo State now,” “Safer roads and communities now,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students.”

The protest follows growing outrage over recent kidnappings in parts of Oriire Local Government Area, where armed attackers invaded schools and abducted pupils and teachers.
