Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several cabinet members were present at the gathering.

The Iftar dinner forms part of the President’s annual Ramadan tradition of hosting political and government officials during the holy month.

At the 2025 edition, Tinubu urged governors and ministers to prioritise the welfare of citizens, telling them to “do more for your people.”

He also stressed that Nigeria should be seen as “one big family living under the same roof,” irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Similarly, at the 2024 Iftar, the President appealed to state governors to set aside political differences and focus on governance, declaring that “the time for politics is over. It is now time for governance.”

Tinubu is expected to host additional Iftar gatherings with senior government officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic corps as Ramadan progresses.

In previous years, former President Muhammadu Buhari also hosted leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, party officials and other stakeholders for Ramadan fast-breaking meals.
