Dangote Reopens Fuel Supply To Major Marketers In Distribution Shift

Petrol distribution resumed on Monday, February 23, 2026, after Dangote Refinery reopened direct sales to licensed major marketers and depot operators under a regulatory framework endorsed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The arrangement permits qualified operators to lift Premium Motor Spirit directly from the refinery in compliance with documentation and operational standards.

The revised model limits direct access to operators with sufficient storage and logistics capacity, marking a structured shift in downstream distribution.

Industry tracking reports indicate the gantry price for petrol under the current arrangement is approximately ₦774 per litre, establishing a benchmark for subsequent depot and retail pricing.

Regulatory oversight remains in force to ensure compliance with petroleum distribution rules and to safeguard against diversion or operational irregularities.

Authorities describe the framework as a measure to enhance transparency in product allocation and strengthen coordination within the downstream supply chain.

Major marketers and depot operators are adjusting procurement strategies in line with the updated distribution structure, a development expected to influence product availability and market dynamics as domestic refining capacity expands.

No details beyond the regulatory and operational framework have been disclosed regarding commercial arrangements or pricing at downstream levels.
