Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday received a visiting delegation from the United States Congress at his office in Abuja, as both nations continue to strengthen security cooperation.
The visit follows last month’s high-level security discussions in Washington, signalling ongoing diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States.
The U.S. congressional team comprised senior House representatives Mario Díaz-Balart, Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani, and Riley Moore. The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, was also in attendance.
According to Ribadu, the meeting centred on enhancing collaboration in counter-terrorism, promoting regional stability, and advancing the Nigeria–U.S. strategic security partnership.

He described the engagement as encouraging, noting that Nigeria is committed to deepening cooperation with the United States in areas critical to national and regional security.
“I’m optimistic this engagement will deepen trust, collaboration, and our shared commitment to peace and security,” the NSA said after the meeting.
The talks are expected to pave the way for further technical cooperation and joint initiatives aimed at tackling terrorism and emerging threats across West Africa.
