Minority leaders of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, Honorable Sylvanus Eyinna Nwankwo (Omuma Constituency) and Honorable Peter Abbey (Degema Constituency), have called on their colleagues to exercise caution, temper justice with mercy, and prioritize peace within the state.
In a press statement released on Monday, the two lawmakers appealed for dialogue and reconciliation amid ongoing political tensions, emphasizing that “in the interest of peace and stability in Rivers State, dialogue remains the best path forward.”
The lawmakers specifically sought to advocate on behalf of Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
This plea comes in the wake of the impeachment notice signed by members of the Rivers State Assembly on January 6, which was formally delivered to Governor Fubara by Speaker Martin Amehule.

The Assembly is currently awaiting the governor’s official response to the notice.
