The Rivers State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration with the Nigerian Army to enhance security and maintain peace in the state.
This was contained in a statement released today, Thursday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, following the courtesy visit of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Garrison Division and Sector 3 Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier-General A.A. Bello, to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, at the State Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, the visit, which took place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, marked a significant step toward strengthening the working relationship between the Police and the Nigerian Army in Rivers State.
Brigadier-General Bello, who recently assumed duty as the new GOC, expressed appreciation for the warm reception by the Commissioner of Police.
He explained that the visit was to formally notify the Command of his assumption of office and to pledge his readiness to build upon the legacies of his predecessor while enhancing operational synergy between the two security agencies.

In his response, CP Adepoju described the visit as “very symbolic” and commended the Nigerian Army for its continuous support in maintaining peace and order in Rivers State and across the nation.
The Police Commissioner emphasized that the strengthened relationship between both agencies would go beyond operational collaborations, extending to joint efforts in protecting critical national infrastructure and fostering a harmonious environment in the state.
The highlight of the visit was the exchange of plaques between CP Adepoju and Brigadier-General Bello, symbolizing a renewed commitment to partnership in the fight against crime and insecurity.
