Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Portugal’s squad for the team’s forthcoming international matches, as new head coach Jorge Jesus begins his tenure with the national side.
The call-up means the 41-year-old forward will remain available for Portugal, ending any immediate doubts over his future at international level.
Ronaldo, who holds Portugal’s records for most appearances and goals, remains a key member of the squad as the European champions prepare for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
His presence will also provide Jesus with the experience of one of the country’s most decorated players as he starts work with the national team.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X on Friday, saying, “Cristiano Ronaldo will continue with Portugal national team!
“He’s been called up for the upcoming games by new head coach Jorge Jesus.”

Portugal will open their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign against Wales on September 24, 2026, in their first Group A, Group 4 fixture.
Jesus’ side will then visit Norway on September 27 before an away meeting with Denmark on October 1. Portugal are scheduled to host Norway on October 4 in their fourth group-stage game.
The final two group matches will see Portugal face Denmark away on November 14, followed by another trip to Wales on November 17.
Portugal are drawn in League A, Group 4 alongside Wales, Norway and Denmark.
