São Paulo Team Bus Seized With 86kg Marijuana En Route To Bolivia

A bus transporting a delegation of Brazilian football club São Paulo was reportedly seized after police discovered 86 kilogrammes of marijuana on board while the team was travelling to Bolivia.

According to French sports newspaper L’Équipe, police officers discovered four bags containing the suspected drugs during an inspection of the bus.

Three people were reportedly arrested in connection with the discovery, while the vehicle was taken into custody by authorities.

The incident forced the company subcontracted by São Paulo to provide another bus to transport the club’s delegation to its destination.

The circumstances surrounding how the drugs were placed on the bus and whether any member of the São Paulo delegation was involved were not immediately clear.

The seizure comes as the Brazilian club was travelling to Bolivia, with authorities expected to investigate the origin and intended destination of the seized substance.

São Paulo has not been reported as directly implicated in the alleged drug trafficking, with the vehicle operated by a subcontracted transportation company.
