The Senate began screening Taiwo Oyedele on Wednesday, the 11th of March, 2026, for the role of Minister of State for Finance.
The process followed a motion by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, which allowed Oyedele entry into the chamber.
He arrived around 2:21 pm, escorted by Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate matters, along with other government officials.
Officials accompanying him included Kayode Ajulo, Ondo State Commissioner for Justice, and Tokunbo Kayode, former Minister of Defence.

Recall that on Tuesday, the 10th of March, President Tinubu formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Oyedele, who will replace Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite as Minister of State for Finance.
In the same communication, the President asked the Senate to confirm former Rivers South-East Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read both requests during plenary.
