The rehabilitation of the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp in Wamakko, Sokoto State, has reached 80 per cent completion, with the project expected to significantly improve facilities available to corps members posted to the state.
The ₦1.7 billion project, awarded by the Sokoto State Government to SBG Enterprises and Construction Limited, is aimed at upgrading the camp to meet modern standards and provide a more conducive environment for orientation activities.
Project Coordinator, Architect Murtala Haliru Rabah, disclosed the development during an inspection tour of the facility, expressing optimism that the work would be completed within the stipulated period.
According to him, the rehabilitationis progressing in line with approved specifications and quality standards set by the state government.
Rabah explained that the project would provide improved accommodation, upgraded administrative buildings and other essential infrastructure designed to enhance the welfare, comfort and security of corps members and camp officials.

He commended the contractor for maintaining a steady pace of work and adhering to established engineering standards throughout the construction process.
He also noted that the completion of the project would strengthen the state’s capacity to accommodate larger numbers of corps members while improving the overall efficiency of orientation programmes.
The project coordinator praised the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising infrastructure development and investing in projects that support youth empowerment and public service delivery.
An inspection of the site revealed that substantial work had already been completed, with labourers and engineers working across several sections of the camp to ensure the project remains on schedule.
The supervising engineer and representative of SBG Enterprises and Construction Limited, Kaseem Bello, assured residents that the contractor would deliver the project within the six-month deadline outlined in the agreement.
Bello said work on the project had exceeded 80 per cent completion and disclosed that activities were continuing around the clock to ensure the timely delivery of the upgraded facility.
