African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, of taking possession of his stolen mobile phones and other electronic devices allegedly recovered after an attack on him and his team in Ado-Ekiti.
Sowore made the allegation in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday, days after he and members of his team were reportedly attacked in the state.
According to him, the stolen devices were traced to the Ekiti State Government House, but the state police command and the governor had allegedly refused to return them.
He claimed that Governor Oyebanji personally instructed the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), identified as Ogidan, to hand over the recovered devices to him.
“We have been informed that Governor Biodun Oyebanji personally instructed the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Commander, Ogidan, to hand over our recovered devices to him yesterday. Why would the governor take possession of evidence connected to the brutal attack on us?” Sowore queried.

The AAC chieftain also criticised the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing them of failing to act after he released videos purportedly showing individuals involved in the October 30 attack.
He alleged that no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, particularly involving a suspect he claimed had attended meetings to plan President Bola Tinubu’s forthcoming campaign activities in Ekiti.
“Since we released the chilling videos exposing the faces of members of the armed gang that tried to kill us on October 30, the Ekiti State Governor, Commissioner of Police, and DSS have all suddenly gone silent! No arrests of the key culprit who has been seen in meetings planning for Tinubu’s campaign coming up in Ekiti soon. Not a word from the Governor. Not a word from the Commissioner of Police. Not a word from the DSS,” he wrote.
Sowore had earlier described the attack on him and his team in Ado-Ekiti as an assassination attempt.
The allegations against Governor Oyebanji and the security agencies had not been independently established in the statement.
