Residents of several communities in Minna, Niger State, experienced a temporary blackout on Tuesday following scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The power utility confirmed that the outage was caused by repair works on a 30MVA, 132/33kV transformer (TR2) at the Minna Transmission Substation.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.
According to TCN, the maintenance exercise commenced at 9:30am and is expected to run until 4:00pm on February 10, 2026.
The company explained that the operation is part of efforts to improve the efficiency and reliability of the transformer.

Due to the ongoing work, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) was unable to deliver power to affected areas during the period.
Communities impacted by the interruption include Tunga, Shiroro Area, Police Secondary School, Air Force Base, Maikunkele, Tudun Fulani, Beji, Chanchaga, Tungan Goro, Federal Government College (FGC), Bosso Low-Cost, Okada Road, parts of London Street, Kateregi, and Sabon Daga.
TCN assured customers that electricity supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance.
The company also tendered an apology to residents for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption.
