The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a two-day maintenance exercise at its Zungeru Transmission Substation in Niger State, a move expected to cause short-lived power disruptions in parts of the state.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance will be carried out on February 18 and 19, 2026, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.
The exercise will involve critical infrastructure, including a 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer, a 5.5MVA 33/11kV transformer, and related switchgear at the Zungeru facility.
Despite the planned works, TCN said electricity supply would largely be sustained, as loads from the affected transformer would be redirected to a second 150MVA unit within the same substation.
This arrangement, the company noted, will enable both Abuja Electricity Distribution Company and Kaduna Electricityf Distribution Company to continue serving customers connected to the substation during the maintenance window.

However, residents in Kontagora, Tegina, Yauri, and surrounding communities have been advised to expect brief power outages while load transfers are being carried out.
Mbah explained that the scheduled work forms part of TCN’s routine efforts to keep its equipment operating efficiently and reliably.
She urged electricity consumers in the affected areas to take note of the timetable and make necessary arrangements ahead of the temporary disruptions.
