Tragedy struck in Kubwa, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, on Friday night, October 3, 2025, when gunmen attacked the home of a veterinary doctor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, killing him and abducting his three children.
Dr. Ogbu, a former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, was taken from his residence in the Byazhin-Across area of Kubwa during the late-night invasion.
His body was later found dumped by the roadside with what residents described as a gunshot wound under his arm.
The attack was first made public by Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, who confirmed the development in a Facebook post on Saturday.
“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead.
The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene,” Ikechukwu wrote.
Residents said the assailants invaded the community around 11:30 p.m., shooting sporadically before breaking into the doctor’s house.
They reportedly operated for several minutes before escaping through a nearby bush path.

The killing has thrown the local community and members of the veterinary profession into mourning, as colleagues and friends described the late doctor as a dedicated professional who contributed immensely to animal health and welfare.
As of press time, police authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The whereabouts of the abducted children also remain unknown.
The attack adds to a growing wave of insecurity in Abuja’s satellite towns, where residents have continued to raise concerns over frequent cases of abductions and armed robberies in Kubwa, Bwari, and Kuje areas.
