Three Rescued As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Ilorin

At least three people have been rescued after a two-storey building collapsed in the Masalasi-Gogoro area of Popo-Giwa Community, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The structure collapsed at about 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, prompting emergency responders to launch search and rescue operations at the site.

The cause of the collapse was yet to be determined, while the total number of occupants and the condition of those rescued remained unclear.

The incident comes less than five months after another two-storey building collapsed in Ilorin.

On April 9, 2026, two children, Ahmad, eight, and Hussainat, 10, were rescued after a residential building collapsed on Ajegunle Street, off Sabo-Line in the Isale area of the city.

Tuesday’s operation continued as responders searched the debris for possible survivors.
