President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Lagos, ending his extended working vacation in Europe ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Tinubu left Paris on Tuesday, September 29, and is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later in the day.
The President is scheduled to attend the October 1 premiere of MKO, a film on the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The premiere will hold at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. Abiola was widely regarded as the winner of the annulled election.
Tinubu is also expected to hold meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos before returning to Abuja.
He left Abuja on August 30 for London and spent about a week there before proceeding to Paris. The Presidency announced on September 21 that his stay had been extended by a few days.

In France, Tinubu held a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron on September 17 and met businessman Vincent Bolloré the following day over investment opportunities in Nigeria’s creative and digital sectors.
On September 24, he witnessed the signing of agreements between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the proposed Gateway Deep Seaport and Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone.
The projects, planned for Ogun Waterside, are expected to attract more than $7bn in investment and create over 50,000 direct jobs when fully developed, according to the Presidency.
Tinubu also met First HoldCo Chairman, Femi Otedola, at a private dinner in Paris on Monday, September 28.
His return to Lagos marks the second consecutive year he will spend Independence Day in the city. In 2025, he marked the anniversary there, delivering his national broadcast and commissioning the renovated National Theatre, later renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.
The President is expected to return to Abuja after his Lagos engagements.
