President Bola Tinubu has joined in celebrating the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, describing him as a distinguished man of God whose steadfast faith and lifelong dedication have helped build one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian ministries over the past fifty years.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated Kumuyi on the occasion of his 85th birthday .
Tinubu highlighted the cleric’s wide-reaching influence, noting that his ministry, teachings, and personal example have extended well beyond church circles to touch lives across the globe.
“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world.
Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose,” Tinubu said.

He further emphasized the generational impact of Kumuyi’s ministry, particularly in strengthening families, shaping leadership values, and deepening the faith of believers.
The President noted, “Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.”
Offering prayers for the cleric, Tinubu wished him continued wellbeing and divine strength as he marked the milestone.
“On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”
Kumuyi, who was born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, began the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he worked as a mathematics lecturer at the time.
Over the decades, the ministry has expanded into one of Africa’s largest Pentecostal movements, now with congregations in more than 150 countries worldwide.
Renowned for his strict doctrinal teachings, strong evangelistic commitment, and disciplined personal lifestyle, Kumuyi remains one of the most influential figures in modern African Christianity.
