Tinubu’s 2027 Victory Will Trigger Rigging Allegations — Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, said opposition parties would likely reject the outcome of the 2027 presidential election if President Bola Tinubu wins a second term.

Akpabio spoke while receiving members of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu support group, during a courtesy visit to his office at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The Senate President, who is the movement’s Grand Patron, urged members to deepen grassroots mobilization and build a strong nationwide structure ahead of the 2027 polls.

He said the group should ensure the President has representation in every polling unit, arguing that stronger election-day coordination would help protect votes and address lapses he claimed occurred during the 2023 presidential election.

Akpabio also predicted that political opponents would allege electoral manipulation if Tinubu is re-elected, but urged members of the movement to remain focused on their assignment.

He further called on young Nigerians to shun cultism, drug abuse, terrorism and other social vices, urging them to embrace responsible leadership and active participation in the country’s democratic process.

Earlier, Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the National Assembly as the organization expands its nationwide mobilization ahead of the next general election.

He said the movement also plans to promote civic participation among young Nigerians and support initiatives that advance national development.
