Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, intercepted weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.
According to the Media Information Officer, Aliyu Danja, the operations, conducted on August 27 and 28, 2026, were part of sustained military efforts to disrupt terrorist networks, dismantle their logistics chains and deny criminal elements safe havens across the North-West.
This was made known in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Saturday.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 on August 27 acted on intelligence concerning a suspected terrorist collaborator who was apprehended with two locally fabricated firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly disclosed that he had been tasked with delivering the weapons and ammunition to another individual.
Acting on the information, troops immediately launched a follow-up operation which resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects allegedly connected to the movement of the arms.
The military said the three suspects, alongside the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently in custody as investigations continue to determine their wider links and activities.
In a separate operation on August 28, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures reportedly used by the terrorists to facilitate their criminal activities.

During the operation, troops also targeted an enclave linked to notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has reportedly terrorised residents of Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.
According to the military, Filani narrowly escaped as troops advanced on the enclave.
It was gathered that the operation also led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the latest successes demonstrate the continued pressure being brought to bear on terrorist networks operating across the North-West.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics, dismantling their enclaves and degrading their operational capabilities.
It also urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
